Application
Marine Research
Marine research sends a small vehicle into the water to observe, map and sample: video and still imagery, sonar survey, and readings from environmental sensors. The component set has to be assembled around the instruments, so AQUROV supplies complete platforms and the building blocks that fit them — thrusters and control electronics, cameras and lights, sonar and depth sensors.

Working environment
Coastal and open-water survey sites where depth, current and visibility change between deployments. The vehicle is normally launched and recovered by hand from a small boat, rinsed between trips and stored for part of the year, so weight, sealing and the service routine matter as much as performance in the water.
Technical challenges
Keeping the platform stable and quiet enough that imagery and sensor logs are usable. A long tether has to carry power and data without polluting instrument readings, and every housing has to stay sealed across repeated dives. Payloads change between projects, which makes trim and buoyancy a recurring task rather than a one-off.
Key selection factors
What decides the specification in this environment.
- Payload and trim Weigh the cameras, lights and instruments against available thrust and buoyancy, so the vehicle still holds position and attitude at survey speed.
- Data path Choose control, communication and tether components together, so video, sonar and sensor data reach the surface in a format the team already records.
- Working depth Rate housings, penetrators and connectors for the deepest site in the programme, not for the average working depth.
- Re-usable platform A frame and thruster set that accepts different payloads lets one vehicle serve several projects, which is why the platform families are the starting point for this recommendation.

Depth, water conditions, task, repeat rate and the crew operating it decide more about the specification than the headline requirement does. Describe the job and we will map it to components that survive it.
