AQUROV Underwater Robotics Components

Light Customization

Small, bounded changes on mature AQUROV platforms.

Light customization covers well-defined changes to products that are already in production: cable lengths, connectors, interfaces, mounting dimensions, selected materials, parameter ranges, packaging and bundled combinations. When a request would change what the product itself can do, it is scoped as an engineering project instead — and we tell you which side of that line you are on.

Scope

What we can change

These eight areas are handled as light customization on products that are already in production. Every request is checked against the existing platform before it is accepted, so the answer you get is a confirmed yes or no, not an assumption.

01

Cable length

Cable and tether lengths adjusted to suit the routing and layout of your vehicle.

02

Connectors

Connector ends changed where the existing platform can accept the alternative.

03

Interfaces

Interface configuration reviewed against the platform and adapted where it fits.

04

Mounting dimensions

Mounting points and bracket dimensions matched to the frame you already build on.

05

Selected materials

Material substitution in the parts where it does not change the core structure.

06

Parameter ranges

Operating ranges adjusted within the limits the current design already allows.

07

Packaging

Packing format, carton configuration and units per box set for your channel.

08

Bundled combinations

Products combined into a set or kit with the accessories your build actually needs.

Mature variants that stay inside a product's existing capability can be confirmed directly. A request that would change what the product can do is reviewed by engineering before anything is promised.

Where the line is

What belongs to engineering support

When a request goes past the eight areas above, it is upgraded to a complex engineering project. AQUROV stays your single contact; the engineering work is carried out by the ROVMAKER engineering team behind us.

  • Core structure redevelopment
  • Electrical architecture redevelopment
  • Control logic development
  • Communication system design
  • Power supply system design
  • Buoyancy and balance work
  • Full system integration
  • Complex vehicle architecture, compatibility and joint debugging

These are not quoted as a product variant. They are scoped, designed and tested as a project, which is why they start with a conversation about requirements rather than with a price list.

Quoting

Two-stage quoting

Customization is quoted in two stages. The first stage costs you nothing but a clear description of the requirement; the second produces the price you order against.

  1. 01

    You describe the change

Send the use case, quantity, the key parameters involved, and the dimensions or interfaces that have to match. Drawings are helpful here but not required.

We come back with an initial feasibility judgement and a price range for the change, so you can decide whether it is worth pursuing.

  2. 02

    You complete the technical detail

Supply the drawings and detailed parameters. Engineering confirms the change is manufacturable and compatible, and we issue the formal quotation.

Final selection, a formal quote and any technical commitment all require these key parameters, so it is worth gathering them early.

Samples

Samples and approval

A light customization sample is charged as the product plus a sampling and engineering fee. When the agreed volume is reached, that fee is credited back in part or in full.

Customized sample units laid out with labels for customer approval before volume production

Before volume production

  • Internal testing on the customized item has passed.
  • You have confirmed the sample or the test results.
  • High-risk volume projects may add a first-article approval step.

Low-risk changes — cable length, connectors, packaging — can go straight to production. Changes that affect performance, structure, interfaces or materials are sampled first, so you can check the physical result before volume is committed. If the requirement changes after a sample is approved, feasibility, price and lead time are re-assessed.

Timing and change control

Lead time and change requests

A customized order is scheduled from a fixed point: payment completed and the final technical documents confirmed. Everything before that point is still open to change.

Quotation is not an order
Confirming a quote does not create an order. The order is in place once payment is complete and the final technical documents or drawings are confirmed.
When lead time starts
After payment and final drawing confirmation, the order enters execution and lead time starts counting.
Lead time commitment
Lead time is confirmed internally — engineering, purchasing and production — before we commit to it, so the date you receive is one we can hold.
Changes after confirmation
Technical documents can still be changed after final confirmation, but feasibility, price and lead time are re-assessed.
Payment for customized orders
Small customization orders are paid in full in advance; larger orders use a deposit with the balance settled before shipment.
Expediting
If you need the order sooner, we check stock, purchasing, production, inspection and logistics first, and an expediting fee may apply.
Inspection
Customized parts can be added to enhanced inspection, or full inspection for high-risk batches.

Freight is calculated at checkout when it can be standardized. Customized projects, unusual sizes or weights, and unusual destinations are quoted manually.

Packaging and OEM

OEM and packaging

OEM supply is open on selected mature standard products only, and it comes with requirements on minimum order quantity, packaging and version management.

Packaging service

Non-standard packaging, labelling, logo and manuals are handled as a separate packaging or OEM service, priced for the work involved rather than as a product variant.

OEM supply

Available on some mature standard products, where the product, its packaging and its documentation can be kept under version control across repeat orders.

The volume threshold depends on the product and is confirmed per request. Send the product, the branding or packaging change you need and your expected order volume, and we will confirm whether it can be supplied this way.

Buying in volume as well? Bulk and wholesale orders covers volume pricing, stock reservation and shipping for larger quantities.

Questions

Common questions

Short answers to the questions that come up before a customization request is sent.

Can every AQUROV product be customized?

No. Light customization applies to mature product platforms. If a change would alter what the product itself can do, it is handled as an engineering project instead, and we will say so before any work starts.

Do I need drawings before I ask?

No. For the first stage, the use case, quantity, key parameters and the dimensions or interfaces that have to match are enough to get an initial feasibility judgement and a price range. Drawings and detailed parameters are needed before a formal quotation is issued.

How does customization affect warranty?

Warranty is confirmed per product and order and runs from the day you receive the goods. Manufacturing, material and product faults are covered; installation errors, wiring errors, use outside specification, collision and over-depth use are not.

What if my change turns out to be an engineering project?

It is scoped as one, and you stay with AQUROV throughout. Requests that touch core structure, electrical architecture, control logic, communication, power, buoyancy balance or full system integration are handled as complex engineering projects.

Send the change you need.

Tell us the product, the change and the volume. We will confirm whether it can be handled as light customization or has to be scoped as an engineering project, and what it costs to move forward.
